Why Lincoln?

I love history. It seemed growing up, that the television was on the history channel more than any other. Having two older brothers who also shared a similar interest, helped to fuel this passion as well. But it wasn't until recently that I showed an avid interest in Presidential history and in particular, Lincoln. This past summer I read a book titled The Last Lincolns: The Rise & Fall of a Great American Family by Charles Lachman and it was this book that sparked a keen interest.

I had always found the Civil War and that general era somewhat interesting and the vivid details in The Last Lincolns began my need to know as much as I could about the 16th President. His personal life, his politics, his character and interests- I wanted to know it all. So since than, I have read a few other books on Lincoln as well as others on various American Presidents. I've quickly found the life and politics of Washington, D.C very interesting

Perhaps this interest is a phase or perhaps it will be a life long hobby to discover new knowledge on past and present Presidents. Either way, I'm finding that Abraham Lincoln's life is extremely interesting and the history books I've read in school don't even begin to dabble into the real interesting life of the 16th President.

So until I become bored with this recent fascincation, I drive on in search of new material that can continue to amaze and impress me. I would recommend to everyone that they read up a little more on Lincoln, he is The Great Emancipator after all.
